French ribbon-framed heart opal pendant brooch

DESCRIPTION

A lovely ribbon pendant brooch features a hand-carved Australian opal in the center which has a rich ‘play of color’.

The name of opal evolved from the Greek "opallus," which refers to a change in color. Later, the Latin word "opalus" came to mean "precious stone.”

The ribbon frame is fully set with rose cut diamonds. Each component of the pendant is articulate, allowing it to dangle freely. The superb quality of this piece can also be seen from the thick and delicate back of the jewelry.

Please note that the pin is a later addition to make this piece wearable as a brooch and a pendant.
