French 18k Greek meander link bracelet

A heavy quality Greek meander link bracelet decorated with royal blue sapphire and rose cut diamonds.

The middle part of the bracelet is composed of 12 small sections, two by two: depicting delicate flying butterflies and thriving flowers. The rich yellow gold with open back diamond and sapphires add luster to the bracelet. The piece is formed by 38 "Greek meander", an ancient Greek design that symbolizes eternity and long life.
Each link of bracelet is articulated and substantial which fits the curve of wrist perfectly while wearing.

This piece dates from 1910s, the time when Art Nouveau is gradually transitioning to Art Deco; on this bracelet we can find classic elements of both styles : nature, flowers, and animals from the former and the repetitive geometric lines from the latter.  This bracelet is a wonderful hybrid example from the turn of 20th century.
