1920s amazonite and glass pearl tassel pendant with matching chain
This is gorgeous tassel pendant with its matching long silver chain from Art Deco era.
The cap of pendant is crafted out of a whole amazonite. It is set to a silver mounting with marcasites border, with strands of hand-knotted glass pearls beads pouring down under. Amazonite has a blue-green color and very unique texture, which is reminiscent of the Amazon River.
The richly cream colored tassel is made of glass pearls. Glass pearls are a type of imitation pearl made with a glass bead and a pearlescent coating. Unlike natural pearls, each has its special size, color, and texture, the use of glass pearls gives this piece a more consistent and fluid art deco look.
In the golden twenties, the most fashionable girls were known as the Flapper Girls. Charming short hair and a neat dress often elaborately decorated with beads are their classic look. Flappers would combine these with long necklaces (sautoirs), which would follow their movement as they danced.
This is a wonderful example of the Art Deco aesthetics, and a perfect accessory for a 1920s fancy dress party.
