Belle Époque ribbon toi et moi diamond ring
This is a "toi et moi" ribbon diamond ring from the Belle Époque era, c.1890-1900s, English in origin.
The ribbon motif ring is fashioned in 18k white gold. Two claw-set diamonds of approximately 0.2 carat each overlap in the middle. The ribbons are decorated with smaller open-back setting diamonds that extend to both sides of shank.
Diamonds and white color precious metal are a classic combination for the jewelry of the Belle Époque era. The “toi et moi” in French translates to “you and me” in English, which refers to a ring design of two main stones. The meeting of the two gemstones symbolizes the union of two lovers and was a popular engagement ring choice throughout history.
