European entwined gemstone snake ring
This is a 14k gold ring from the late 19th century, adorned with diamond and sapphire. It is believed to originate from continental Europe, possibly Germany based on its design and gold purity.
The central design of the ring revolves around two intricately intertwined snake forms, resulting in a double-band structure. The snake heads and tails intertwine, creating a visually captivating effect. The snake faces are exquisitely crafted, with finely detailed depictions of eyes, mouths, and noses. One of the snake's front halves features a curved scale pattern.
Gemstones embellish the tops of each snake head. Originally, one of the snake heads had a worn synthetic gemstone, which we have replaced with sapphire. The diamond on the other snake head remains in its original state.
The ring is in good antique condition, showing normal signs of oxidation and wear from previous use. Inside the band, you'll find a 585 hallmark, indicating that it is 14k solid gold. There’s also a maker’s mark “K”.
