French Belle Époque era three-way diamond ribbon brooch pendant
This is a three-way pendant brooch from the French Art Nouveau era, circa 1900, crafted in 18k solid gold and sterling silver, and adorned with exquisite rose-cut diamonds.
The design of this piece is incredibly intricate. In addition to serving as a brooch, the pendant features different forms of bails at the top and bottom, allowing for two distinct pendant orientations. When using the hook at the back, the bow-shaped motif is presented on the front. The central knot is three-dimensional and not rigid, showcasing a metal structure that mimics the softness of ribbon with its curved bow. The combination of the sterling silver base and diamonds reflects the classic design aesthetics of the Belle Époque era.
In the alternative orientation with a diamond-set-front dog clip clasp, it can be used not only as a pendant worn with a chain but also for suspending a pocket watch. This design exhibits the flowing and bold lines characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. It is truly a splendid piece with versatile functionality and a rich and varied appearance.
The pendant brooch is overall in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and signs of wear. As the assessment of the item's condition is subjective, please click and zoom in on our photos to examine more details for a more informed judgment.
