English Victorian 18k gold heart opal ring, circa 1890

DESCRIPTION

This English Victorian ring from the 1890s is crafted in 18k solid gold and set with a petite heart-shaped opal. The gem is placed slightly askew, giving the composition a playful charm. Its surface shimmers with green and yellow fire, lit at times by flashes of orange and lilac.

The ring carries an inscription inside the shank, reading “SELINA FROM FANNY” alongside the 18ct mark, a personal dedication that adds to its sentimental resonance. Compact yet expressive, it embodies the romantic sensibility of late Victorian jewels—delicate in scale, yet luminous in spirit.
