French Art Nouveau rock crystal starfish earrings in silver and gold, c.1900
These French Art Nouveau earrings from c.1900 are crafted in silver with 10k gold (tested at 44.83% fineness) and set with rose-cut rock crystals. The screw fittings are in 18k solid gold and appear to be later additions, showing light soldering traces from conversion.
Each starfish curls with lively, elastic movement: five arched arms, serrated edges, and raised rose-cut crystals evoke the rough, spined surface of an echinoderm. The result balances naturalistic detail and stylized flow—an unmistakably Art Nouveau interpretation of a marine form.
It is in good antique condition with normal oxidation and wear; some areas show deeper patina. We encourage you to view the enlarged photos for a closer look at the condition.
