Early 19th-century Spanish sunburst diamond ring
This Spanish ring dating to circa 1800–1820 is crafted in 18k solid gold (~74.76% gold) and set with diamonds.
Rose-cut diamonds are mounted in rub-over settings across the head of the ring, forming a sculptural sunburst design with radiating lines and a raised central cluster that emphasises its strongly hand-wrought, three-dimensional structure. The shank continues this sense of relief with richly decorative, symmetrical volute motifs.
On our website you will also find a pair of earrings from a different region and date, yet displaying a strikingly similar sun-themed design, likewise set with rose-cut diamonds in rub-over settings. The two pieces echo each other across time and place and may be collected as a set by searching the keyword “Iberian jewelry”.
The ring is in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and wear consistent with age and use. As the assessment of condition can be subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to examine additional details as part of your evaluation.
