French pearl and diamond ring, late 19th century
This French Belle Époque ring, dating to circa 1890-1900, is crafted in 18k solid gold and set with diamonds and natural button-shaped pearls. The diamonds are a combination of old European and rose cuts, producing a soft, diffused play of light characteristic of the period.
What defines this piece is its sculptural goldwork. The metal is built in volume, articulated through three-dimensional curves and an architectural sense of depth. The tulip-shaped shoulders, each set with rose-cut diamonds, rise from the ring like miniature sculptures, while even the shank is shaped with a quiet, intentional contour. The refinement of the ring lies not in surface ornament, but in its construction.
This is a piece that balances delicacy with structure, where pearls, light, and sculpted gold are held in natural proportion.
The ring is in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and wear consistent with age and use, with more pronounced oxidation in certain areas. As the assessment of condition can be subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to examine additional details as part of your evaluation.
