French garnet and seed pearl gold locket

This hinged photo locket, dating to the mid to late 19th century and sourced in France, is crafted in 18k solid gold. The front centers on a garnet, surrounded by a concentric arrangement of natural seed pearls. The composition is structured through the contrast of materials.

The reverse is fully decorated with hand-chased patterns arranged in vertical bands, creating a contrast with the more concentrated composition of the front. This surface treatment continues onto the reverse of the bale, where a small chased leaf motif is incorporated.

There is a minor area of enamel loss along the upper right border. This does not affect the overall structure or wearability of the piece.
