Beginning of 19th century French full rose cut diamond ring
A rare to find gorgeous rose cut diamond ring, French in origin, c. 1820-1830s.
Rose cut diamonds are cut into a triangular shape with anywhere from 3 facets to 24 facets. The small and early rose cuts are no more than three or six facets and they often were very flat stones. On this ring we have a very high quality full rose cut diamond with 18 facets and has a dramatic pointed profile. It is approximately 1.2 carat. Rose cut diamonds in this era are hand cut thus hardly ever symmetrical and are usually found with rather irregular outlines. The rose cut diamond is in closed-back setting and very bright in color and clarity considering its age. The shoulder of the ring is hand engraved with scroll lines and foliate motifs.
The ring is heavy both in weight and quality and in excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
