Victorian puffed acorn pendant

DESCRIPTION

A lovely Victorian puffed acorn pendant crafted in gilt metal, from circa 1870-1890. Fine textured details appears on the wood-like cap of acorn, while the bottom is a round nut with a metallic luster.
The pendant is hollow due to the difficulty of obtaining materials back in the time. But therefore is comfortable and not heavy for daily wearing.
When making hollow metal jewelry, a mold is made and a small hole is reserved to allow the mold material to drain out after the mold is completed. Since this pendant carries two holes- we can see that the top and bottom are made separately and then molded together.
