French Art Nouveau tortoiseshell dance card
A French rare to find tortoiseshell dance card c.1890-1900 incrusted with a very fine layer of silver flower and dragonfly patterns atop. It opens into a fan shape and has five ivory leaves. If you see closely you can also see romantic little stars among the flowers!
An original silver gilt cased pencil is connected to the card by chain, allowing the dancer to remember of the order of the songs and dances of the evening and the names of their partners.
