1850s Italian bi-color gold shield locket with oak tree leaf motif
A c.1850s shield-shaped locket embellished with oak tree leaves motif crafted in bi-color 9k gold (rose gold and green gold), Italian in origin.
With a winding branch alongside three oak tree leaves on the front, the locket shows the symbolic image of the oak tree: strength, longevity, endurance, justice and honesty. Two leaves on the right were made in green gold, making this piece more vivid and delicate.
Both shield and oak tree share the symbol as protector thus we can also see this locket as an amulet.
The locket shows antique patina and signs of wear. As the assessment of an item's condition is highly subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to examine more detailed condition highlights for your judgment.
