French Art Deco sapphire and diamond dome ring
This is a classic French Art Deco ring crafted in 18k solid gold and white gold plated, set with diamond and sapphire accents c.1920.
Originating in France, Art Deco influenced design styles in various fields such as art and architecture in Western countries during the 1920s to 1930s. As a reaction against the romantic elements of the Art Nouveau period, the Art Deco style emphasizes geometric, symmetrical, and minimalist lines, monochromatic or strongly contrasting color combinations, and the use of avant-garde materials or shapes for gemstones.
This exquisitely crafted ring features an old-cut diamond at its center, surrounded by two sets of V-shaped cutouts, creating symmetrical fan-shaped and diamond-shaped sections both above and below. The edges of the fan-shaped sections are adorned with six calibre-cut sapphires each, and the square table and structured design repeatedly showcase the sleek geometric lines characteristic of Art Deco. The slightly arched ring shank lends a three-dimensional elegance reminiscent of the domes of cathedrals.
The ring exhibits excellent craftsmanship and is in a well-preserved condition.
