Antique Portuguese serpent ring set with diamonds
This Portuguese serpent ring dates from the 1900s. The serpent's body is crafted from 19.2k yellow gold, substantial yet gracefully contoured, with a flexible and sinuous form. At the serpent's head, there is a rhombus-shaped platinum ornament adorned with embedded diamond.
The eyes, portrayed with diamonds, utilize a pave setting method, which consumes more metal, ingeniously making the eyes stand out in three dimensions on the head. The ring also features a slightly open serpent's mouth, and the meticulous facial detailing adds a lively and vivid character to this serpent ring.
The entire circumference of the ring, from head to tail, is fully engraved with scale pattern. The dominant motifs include interconnected triangles and wavy patterns on the sides, complemented by tiny dot-like textures, resulting in lifelike scales from every angle, creating an exceptionally exquisite effect.
On the outer side of the ring shank, slightly towards the bottom, there are three hallmark engravings. The overall condition is good with normal signs of oxidation and wear.
