Victorian Etruscan Revival citrine festoon gold necklace
A mid to late Victorian-era Etruscan Revival style necklace c.1870, English in origin. It is crafted in 9k gold and adorned with citrines.
In the mid-19th century, due to the archaeological discoveries of the Etruscan Civilization in Italy, contemporary jewelers rediscovered ancient techniques and styles, giving rise to the revival of jewelry.
The necklace has a simple yet elegant design, with two strands of chain connecting five pendant elements featuring intricate rope-like decorations. Between these pendant elements, there are four rich-colored citrines hanging in a festoon style, beautifully complementing the hue of gold necklace.
The citrines are set in an open bezel setting, framed by delicate rope-like details encircling their edges. This intricate gold work, reminiscent of the Etruscan Revival style typical of the Victorian era, adds to the necklace's allure.
The necklace is in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and signs of wear. Some parts of the necklace may have deeper oxidized areas, but the clasp functions properly, and the clasp head features the same intricate rope pattern design.
