English antique old-cut diamond bar brooch c.1890
This brooch, dating back to the end of the 19th century, is crafted from silver and gold, set with approximately 1.7 carats of old-cut diamonds.
The piece features characteristics of Belle Époque (1890-1915) jewelry. Jewelry from this period was often referred to as "white jewelry," using white metals (platinum, white gold or silver) as the setting to enhance the brilliance of commonly used white gemstones (diamonds and pearls). The style frequently included designs resembling lace and ribbons.
The brooch has a substantial and solid setting, adorned with two rows of symmetrically arranged diamonds that converge at the central diamond. The simple composition allows the brilliantly sparkling diamonds to take center stage.
The pin structure on the back is equally well-designed, featuring a slightly curved angle at the pin point that ensures the brooch stays securely in place once the pin is through the fabric, preventing it from slipping out.
The piece is in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and signs of wear. Since the evaluation of condition is highly subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to view more detailed information as a basis for your assessment.
