Early 20th-century French Red Tourmaline and Diamond Ring

This French ring dates to the Belle Époque period of the early 1900s and is crafted in 18k solid gold and platinum, set with diamonds and a tourmaline.

At the centre is an old-cut red tourmaline with a squared outline and softly rounded corners. The centre stone is set in gold, while the surrounding diamonds are mounted in platinum. Single diamonds encircle the tourmaline, with slight variations in size arranged to follow the outline of the setting, forming an irregular yet rhythmically structured halo.

All stones are set open-back, with a clearly defined reverse that allows light to enter from multiple directions. The band is slender and connects naturally to the setting, keeping the visual focus on the central stone arrangement. The use of platinum for the diamond settings enhances their brightness and reflects the refined metalwork characteristic of Belle Époque jewellery.
