Italian antique emeralds and pearl grape necklace
A lively and wild emerald and pearl grape pendant necklace c.1830-1840, Italian in origin. It is hand crafted in gold backed silver. Strands of hand-wired natural pearls dangle as three dimensional grapes, while hand cut natural emeralds are set carefully to the leaves; several hand-curved silver wires imitate perfectly grape’s tendrils.
Grapes are viewed as a symbol of abundance and fertility. In Greek mythology, Dionysus was recognized as a god of fertility and prosperity.
Please note, the back of pendant has an old trace of tin soldering. The pin is broken and thus removed by our jeweler. An antique English silver chain from late 19th century is soldered onto its original hoops. Now it returns to its original design as pendant necklace.
