French Etruscan revival carnelian double-sided locket pendant
An Etruscan revival style double-sided carnelian locket c.1860, French in origin.
An unusual grayish lilac color tone on the surface of the carnelian gives the locket a classic look while the Etruscan revival gold wire decoration with six pearls set around the front add more details to the locket. This locket showcases the simplicity of design and craftsmanship of a well-made heavy locket. The carnelians were set on both sides; the surface is a thin layer of grayish lilac color which is a strong contrast against the warm orange tone as base layer.
The locket is in good condition with little patina and light scratches on the surface of inside glass panel.
