French intertwined serpent pendant from the end of 19th century
This French intertwined serpent pendant dates back to the late 19th century. It is crafted in 18k solid gold, set with rose-cut diamonds and an old-cut fuchsia pink paste.
At the center of the pendant is a deep fuchsia pink paste adorned with a cluster of diamonds. Encircling the gemstone are two sinuously shaped serpents. The serpents intertwined like a knot, with their bodies decorated with black enamel to add a three-dimensional effect.
The serpent motif has been popular across different eras, carrying various symbolic meanings such as danger, temptation, rebirth, and eternal love. This compact yet striking pendant perfectly showcases the complex and unique allure of serpent jewelry.
