This French Romantic-era serpent ring, dating to circa 1850, is crafted in 18k solid gold and set with rose-cut diamonds.

The boldly oversized serpent head is set with a rose-cut diamond of approximately 1 carat, immediately drawing the eye to its commanding centerpiece. In contrast, the slender, smoothly polished body coils around the finger to form the band—a playful juxtaposition that exaggerates proportion to charming effect. The result is a serpent with a “big head” and a whimsical personality, making this ring a lively and distinctive interpretation of serpent-themed jewelry.

The ring is in good antique condition, showing typical signs of oxidation and wear consistent with age. It bears a later French owl hallmark—an official control mark applied by French customs to certify the gold content as 18k upon resale or import. This mark confirms the gold content but does not date the piece.
