French banded agate gold earrings c.1860
This pair of French earrings from the 1860s is crafted in 18k solid gold and set with polished cabochons of banded agate.
The agates are smoothly domed with delicate, natural striations that flow in soft layers, creating a subtle contrast of light and shadow across their rounded surfaces. The refined geometry and gentle curvature give these earrings an understated elegance, true to the taste of mid-19th century France.
They bear the French eagle’s head hallmark for 18k gold, along with a maker’s mark that is now worn and no longer legible.
The earrings are in good antique condition, showing normal signs of oxidation and wear consistent with their age. As condition assessments are subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to examine more detailed aspects as part of your evaluation.
