German diamond and ruby cluster ring c.1810
This is a gemstone cluster ring from Germany, dating back to the 1810-1820s, crafted entirely in 14k gold and set with a rose-cut diamond and rubies.
A cluster ring typically features a larger central stone surrounded by smaller gemstones, designed to visually accentuate the central stone. This design remains very popular even today.
This particular piece has a central rose-cut diamond with a diameter of 5.5mm. The outer circle of rubies is set in an open-back style, showcasing their bright and vivid color and sparkle without the need for foil backing, indicating the high quality of the gemstones.
The ring band exhibits the romanticism of the Biedermeier period, with the use of naturalistic floral and leaf patterns. The ring shank features openwork designs that extend into flowing, delicate fern leaves and floral motifs, creating a soft and varied contour that is both delicate and intricate.
The ring is in good antique condition, showing normal oxidation and signs of wear. Resizing is not recommended. As the condition assessment is subjective, please click and enlarge our photos to view more details for your evaluation.
