European Art Nouveau tri-colored gold diamond set grape pendant, circa 1900
This pendant, dating to the 1900s, is crafted in 14k bi-colored gold, forming a grapevine with leaves and clusters of fruit, set with a diamond and finished with a 14k rose gold bail. The exact origin is unknown, but it is believed to be from continental Europe and was found in the UK.
This dainty pendant is crafted with intricate details, featuring a small yet lively grapevine adorned with leaves and fruit. The composition is dynamic, with layered elements that create depth. The varying tones of the foliage and fruit complement each other, enhancing the vibrant design typical of the naturalistic Art Nouveau style. A diamond set at the top contrasts with the rounded, full fruits, adding elegance and sparkle to the piece.
The bail is made of rose gold, and the overall condition of the pendant is good for its age, with normal signs of oxidation and wear. Based on the structure of the back, it is possible that the pendant was later modified, perhaps converted from a stick pin.
