Italian mid-19th century 1.1 ct sapphire and diamond cluster ring

This beautiful saphire and diamond cluster ring c.1870 comes from a private collection in Tuscany, Italy.

It is bezel set with a royal-blue saphire of estimated 1.1 ct and rose cut diamonds with total of 1 ct. The gemstones are at top quality-they are set in closed back setting but demostrate such strong vivid colors as the open-set stones do. The closed back setting is smooth and well-made. The simple and elegant ring shoulders are of archaeological taste.
